Specification

Post dimensions:

3m Posts - 3m x 100mm x 100mm

2.2m Posts - 2.2m x 100mm x 100mm

Approximate weight:

3m - 16.5kg each

2.2m - 12.1kg each

Cutting:

Our composite fence posts can be easily to size using normal woodworking tools. The easiest way to cut them however is using a Mitre Saw (Chop Saw) with a fine tooth blade.

Installation:

Sunk in the ground:

Our posts can be concrete into the ground the same way you would traditional concrete or wooden posts

On top of solid base:

You can install our fence posts on top of a solid base using our fence post standing bases bolted down.

*Important installation note*

When it comes to installing our composite fence posts, we want to make sure everything is done with accuracy. That's why we advise measuring 20mm (the slat thickness) and channeling it out, instead of using the guidelines on the posts when using the slot between method. This will help ensure that the channel spacing is correct. However, in most cases, the guidelines on the posts should provide the correct spacing. But to be on the safe side and ensure a perfect installation, it is best to measure and channel it out.

If you are installing by securing slats to the front of the post, this process does not need to be followed.

Information

Matching composite fence posts caps are available in the same colour as the posts to finish off the fence posts once installed.

Composite Decking FAQs

What are the main benefits of composite decking?

Alpha Decking's WPC decking needs far less maintenance and in most circumstances none compared to traditional wood decking options. The plastic content in our decking means our boards are resistant to rot and damp, and are extremely slip resistant with no warping or cracking. WPC decking will also never need to be sealed, stained or painted saving you £1000’s over your decking’s life span.

What does the 15 year warranty cover?

Alpha Decking's 15 year warranty protects against warping, cracking, splitting, rotting and fungal decay caused by manufacturing defects, when subject to normal use. You can find the full warranty here.

Will my decking colour fade?

Over the first couple of months after installation you will notice your decking go through a weathering process, like anything left outside, due to UV exposure and naturally occuring tannins in the wood part of the boards being exposed to UV where the colour will start to become slightly lighter (typically around 10-20% depending on exposure and time of year) including a slight reduction in the wood grain, this will normally be most noticeable during the first 2 months exposure to UV light. This process can happen quicker or slower again depending on time of year and the amount of UV exposure the boards get. E.g in Winter this may happen over 4-5 months in Summer 1-2 months.

Please do not worry as this is completely normal and will generally start to stabilise after this initial period. Over the coming years once the product has stablised you may see a much slower reduction in colour as it's exposed UV light but is in most cases unnoticeable to the eye.

We have a picture graph below to give an example and a general representation of colour changes after 2 months outside exposed to UV light. Please note we have tried to accurately capture the colours but different lighting, angles and cameras and of course actual UV exposure means this may not be exactly how all boards will look after 2 months and is only suitable for this example. Colour change will vary across colours and batches.

Will I see the fixings?

No, you won't. Our decking boards have seamless installation with hidden fixings.

How do I know how much decking I will need?

To work out how many decking boards and other fixtures and fittings you will need you will first need to take your measurements where you would like the decking to go. You can put these measurements into our online price calculator which will automatically work out what you need and allow you to easily checkout online. If you need any extra assistance you can always call our sales team on 0203 011 1661 or email info@alphadecking.co.uk
